Bio - H.L.T. Quan H.L.T. Quan is a Director/Producer, Editor and Soundperson as well as a political theorist. She was a radio programmer and DJ for over 15 years and began working with video in the early 1990s. She was an editor and music supervisor on Del Otro Lado and has collaborated with C.A. Griffith on over half a dozen films. Together, they co-founded QUAD Productions in 1999 to provide media and media training to grassroots organizations and activists. QUAD Productions counteracts mainstream, corporate media and is committed to communication as a human right. Through QUAD, she has co-produced half a dozen short documentaries focusing on various social justice campaigns. These works include What If I Were To Remain Here?, a Public Arts Project on Tomás Rivera by Mary Ann Peters at UT-San Antonio, Another World is Possible: AMARC at the 2003 World Social Forum, All the Voices: A Passion for Community Radio and In Plain Sight: A Guide to Freedom and Safety. HQ’s scholarship can be found in Social Identities, Race & Class, Meridians, Signs and several edited volumes. She currently teaches in Justice & Social Inquiry in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University and is finishing up her book manuscript, Development & AntiDemocracy: Savage Developmentalism and the Modern World, as well as working on a collaborative, five person research team focusing on black capitalism. |
